ATTENTION CRANSTON VOTERS:

Please see below important election information related to the Sept. 8, 2020 Statewide Primary regarding the Voter Registration Deadline, which is Sunday, Aug. 9, the Party Disaffiliation Deadline, which is Tuesday, Aug. 11, and the posting of the Preliminary List and the Final Canvassing of the Voter List, which is Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Due to COVID-19, Cranston voters are strongly encouraged to vote by mail. A mail ballot application PDF for the Sept. 8, 2020 Statewide Primary, and for the Nov. 3, 2020 General Election, are included at the left of this page. Voters may print and complete either or both applications and mail them in or submit them in person to the Canvassing Department at City Hall. Voters may also call the Canvassing Department at 401-780-3121 to have an application sent to you with a postage pre-paid return envelope.

You can also check your voter registration, find your polling place, and view a sample ballot online at vote.ri.gov. All polling locations will be open on Sept. 8, however your polling place may have changed due to COVID-19 – a PDF list of polling locations for the upcoming elections for in-person voting is located at the bottom of this page, or you may call the Canvassing Department at 401-780-3128.

OFFICIAL ELECTION NOTICE

CITY OF CRANSTON

LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE

IS SUNDAY, AUGUST 9, 2020

The Cranston Board of Canvassers, located in Cranston City Hall, Room 100, 869 Park Ave, Cranston, RI, will be open to accept voter registrations and address changes on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Any resident who is not already a registered voter and wishes to vote in the Rhode Island Statewide Primary being held on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020 must register by the deadline of Aug. 9, 2020 to be eligible to vote in that primary election. The deadline for registered voters to submit a change in their party affiliation or disaffiliate from their current political party is Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020. New registrations, updates, and party changes can also be submitted online at vote.ri.gov until midnight on each respective deadline day.

MAIL BALLOT DEADLINE

Any registered voter wishing to vote by mail-in ballot in the Sept. 8, 2020 Rhode Island Statewide Primary election must submit a mail ballot application to the Cranston Board of Canvassers, located in Cranston City Hall, Room 100, 869 Park Ave, Cranston, RI, no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020.

FINAL CANVASSING OF CRANSTON VOTER LIST

The Cranston Board of Canvassers will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020 at 4 p.m. This meeting will be conducted electronically under the provisions of the Governor’s Executive Order 20-46. Meeting details for public access, including a web link and access phone number, will be posted at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting on the City of Cranston’s official website: www.cranstonri.gov. Anyone interested in participating in the meeting may also call the Canvassing Department at 401-780-3128 to receive meeting access details. The meeting is for the purpose of canvassing the Preliminary List of Cranston Voters, and to hear objections to the inclusion or omission of any person as a registered voter, and to make a Final Canvass and correction of the voter registration file for the Rhode Island Statewide Primary election that is to take place on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020. The Preliminary List of Cranston Voters will be posted on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in the Canvassing Department Office, Room 100 in Cranston City Hall, 869 Park Ave, Cranston, RI, and will also be posted for public inspection on this page as soon as it is available.

EMERGENCY VOTING PERIOD

The emergency voting period will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 19 in the Canvassing Department office at City Hall and run through the Statewide Primary, during normal business hours. The Canvassing Department will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Labor Day, Sept. 7, 2020 for emergency voting and official election business.
