Bio:
Matthew R. Reilly is a lifelong resident of Cranston, proudly serving his first term on the City Council. The father of two beautiful girls, Lena and Gracelyn, Matt has chosen to raise his family in the vibrant, thriving Garden City section of the city, located in Ward 6.
Matt graduated from Cranston High School West in 1999 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the George Washington University School of Business and Public Management in 2003, with a concentration in entrepreneurship and small business management. Before earning his Juris Doctor degree from Roger Williams University School of Law and passing the Rhode Island Bar exam in 2013, Matt was a realtor and real estate appraiser for several years. Currently, Matt is a licensed attorney in the State of Rhode Island, running his own private practice, which concentrates on Family Law. As an attorney, Matt spends his days at the negotiating table and in the varying courts of Rhode Island fighting for his clients in highly contested, emotional disputes. As a mediator, Matt helps finding consensus between opposing parties. As a Councilman, Matt intends to use these same valuable skills to bring all interested parties to the table and come to agreements that are in the best interest of the City of Cranston and his neighbors in Ward 6.
Within the Cranston community, Matt serves as a CLCF soccer coach and has previously served on the Cranston Charter Review Commission. Focused on continuing Cranston’s growth as a city that is “open for business,” where small businesses can thrive, Matt seeks to maintain the fiscal stability of Cranston and simply “get things done.” He promises to be accessible to his constituents and to always be there to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. Being of service to others is both Councilman Reilly’s purpose and promise to the citizens of Cranston.
