SPECIAL ELECTION NOTICE

CITY OF CRANSTON

LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE IS SUNDAY,
SEPTEMBER 3, 2023

The Cranston Board of Canvassers, located in Cranston City Hall, Room 100, 869 Park Ave, Cranston, RI, will be open to accept voter registrations and address changes on Sunday, September 3, 2023 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Any resident who is not already a registered voter and wishes to vote in the Cranston City Council Ward 6 Special Election being held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 must register by the deadline of September 3, 2023 to be eligible to vote in the Special Election. New registrations, name and address updates, and party changes can also be submitted online at vote.ri.gov until midnight on September 3, 2023.

MAIL BALLOT APPLICATION DEADLINE

Any registered voter wishing to vote by mail-in ballot in the October 3, 2023 Cranston City Council Ward 6 Special Election must submit a mail ballot application to the Cranston Board of Canvassers, located in Cranston City Hall, Room 100, 869 Park Ave, Cranston, RI, no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

MAIL BALLOT DROP BOXES

There are two mail ballot drop boxes in the City of Cranston which will be open starting September 13 to receive completed mail ballots in their oath and/or mailing envelopes:

Cranston City Hall – 869 Park Ave (Side entrance of the building, next to Cranston East)

RI Board of Elections – 2000 Plainfield Pike (Parking lot at Sailor Way entrance)

Any completed Rhode Island mail ballot can be placed in any official Board of Elections Mail Ballot Drop Box, statewide, no later than 8 p.m. on Election Night. Mail Ballots may also be received during normal business hours in the Canvassing Authority office, Room 100 at Cranston City Hall.

WARD 6 SPECIAL ELECTION NOTICE

The state Board of Elections has approved polling locations for the Cranston City Council Ward 6 Special Election on Oct. 3, 2023. There will be no primary.

Attention Ward 6 Voters: Your polling place may have changed.
Check your polling place online at vote.ri.gov (https://vote.sos.ri.gov/Home/PollingPlaces?ActiveFlag=2). Polling locations are also viewable on the attached Ward 6 map.

PLEASE NOTE
You can only vote at your assigned polling place on election day. Please note that early voting for this special election will take place during business hours at Cranston City Hall, beginning 20 days before the election. Polling places and early voting locations are subject to change for future elections, and you should always confirm your polling location before voting. All Ward 6 voter households will additionally be mailed a notice by the Board of Canvassers informing them of the assigned polling place for their address for this special election.

Only Ward 6 has a special election this year. The City of Cranston is not located in Congressional District 1, and no Cranston voters are eligible to vote in the Congressional District 1 Special Election.
