CRANSTON – As the city prepares for another hot and humid week, Mayor Ken Hopkins announced that Cranston’s new splash pad is now open for summer enjoyment.
“We are pleased to offer this new, fun and safe way for families to cool down and on a hot summer day,” Mayor Ken Hopkins said. “This new resource will be an oasis for families in Ward 3, and all of Cranston, as we continue through the summer heat. I cannot wait to see the many smiling faces of our youth splashing around.”
The splash pad is located off Oak Street by the Cooney Playground and Hugh B. Bain Middle School – adjacent to the Bain walking track. The pad will be open from approximately 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Hours may be adjusted.
“This play space was made possible thanks to the support and shared vision of our city leadership, including Councilman John Donegan,” Mayor Hopkins said.
Mayor Hopkins emphasized that this project was made possible due to generous grant support. The splash pad was completed at zero-cost to city taxpayers and was fully supported by Community Development Block Grant funding.
