Winter Storm Notice: Parking Ban, Waste Management Delay

February 12, 2024

I’m proud to report Cranston is prepared for tonight’s snowstorm.

Our Highway Department started early this morning by filling up our gas tanks and pre-loading our trucks with salt at the highway garage. I have met with our highway, building, and public safety departments to make sure we are staffed and ready to plow.

Due to expected snow, a street PARKING BAN will be in effect from 11 pm Monday until further notice. Please, do not park on the street or your car will be towed.

There will be NO trash or recycling pick-up Tuesday. We will have a one-day delay for the rest of the week.

Cranston Public Schools, Cranston Public libraries, and the Cranston Senior Center will be closed Tuesday, 2/13.

Travel could be tricky for both the Tuesday morning and afternoon commutes. Please be cautious of icy conditions.

Residents are responsible for shoveling sidewalks in front of their homes and business. Please do so promptly once the snowfall ceases. Please, assist the fire department by clearing out nearby fire hydrants.

To report an outage, call one of the following utility providers:

  • Rhode Island Energy: 855-743-1102
  • Eversource: 800-592-2000
  • National Grid: 800-465-1212
  • Pascoag Utility District: 401-568-6222
  • Block Island Utility District: 401-466-5851

Stay safe and warm, Cranston!
