ELECTION NOTICE

CITY OF CRANSTON

LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE IS MONDAY, AUGUST 10, 2026

The Cranston Board of Canvassers has designated the state Board of Elections mail ballot drop box, located at Cranston City Hall, 869 Park Ave, Cranston, RI (side entrance of the building, next to Cranston East) to accept voter registrations, name and address changes, and party changes at any time on Monday, August 10, 2026. Any resident who is not already a registered voter and wishes to vote in the Rhode Island Statewide Primary Election being held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 must register to vote by the deadline of August 10, 2026 in order to be eligible to vote in the Rhode Island Statewide Primary Election. New registrations, name and address changes, and party changes may also be submitted online at vote.ri.gov until August 10, 2026. The deadline for registered voters to submit a change in their party affiliation or disaffiliate from their current political party is Monday, August 10, 2026.

MAIL BALLOT

APPLICATION DEADLINE

Any registered voter wishing to vote by mail ballot in the September 9, 2026 Rhode Island Statewide Primary Election must submit a mail ballot application to the Cranston Board of Canvassers, located in Cranston City Hall, Room 100, 869 Park Ave, Cranston, RI, no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

MAIL BALLOT DROP BOXES

There are two mail ballot drop boxes in the City of Cranston that will be open starting on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 to receive completed mail ballots in their oath and/or mailing envelopes, and to receive mail ballot applications and voter registrations prior to their deadlines for receipt:

Cranston City Hall – 869 Park Ave (side entrance of the building, next to Cranston East)

RI Board of Elections – 2000 Plainfield Pike (parking lot at Sailor Way entrance)

Any completed Rhode Island mail ballot may be placed in any official state Board of Elections mail ballot drop box, statewide, no later than 8 p.m. on Election Night, Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Mail ballots may also be returned during normal business hours in the Canvassing Authority office, Room 100 at Cranston City Hall.

EARLY VOTING

Early voting for the September 9, 2026 Rhode Island Statewide Primary Election begins on Thursday, August 20 and runs weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Tuesday, September 8, ending at 4 p.m. on September 8. Early voting is also open on Saturday, September 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed on Monday, September 7 for Labor Day. All Cranston voters who have not applied for a mail ballot are eligible to vote early during this period at the Peter T. Pastore, Jr. Youth Center, 155 Gansett Ave. in Cranston. Photo ID is required.
